The two types of Insomnia are Primary and Acute. Primary Insomnia describes a person who is having difficulties sleeping that are not related to other health conditions and/or problems. Acute Insomnia, or secondary insomnia, means the individual is having sleep problems because of some other health condition or treatment option. Symptoms of both include:

  • Difficulty falling asleep at night
  • Daytime sleepiness and general tiredness
  • Irritability, depression or anxiety
  • Problems with concentration
